Biography

Born in Geneva, Sarah Matousek stands out for a highly varied solo repertoire as a light lyric soprano, ranging from opera to chamber music and oratorio. In recent years, it is her particular affinity for the Baroque and Classical repertoire that has most shaped her artistic path.

In the 2025/2026 season, Sarah will perform the role of Teofane (Ottone, Handel) with the Opéra de l’Impératrice in Payerne. She will also appear as The Cat (Les Dinosaures et l’Arche, Leininger) at the Cité Bleue in Geneva, under the baton of Leonardo García Alarcón. In concert, Sarah will be a soloist in Schubert’s Mass in G and Vivaldi’s Dixit Dominus with the Arte Musica Choir. She will also collaborate with various ensembles from French-speaking Switzerland, including La Fontana Cantabile, Diaphane, and others. In addition, Sarah will return to the Grand Théâtre de Genève (La Plage) for various outreach and education projects.

Attilio Cremonesi); sang as a soloist in Castor & Pollux (a new creation based on Rameau) at the Heidelberger Frühling Musikfestival; and performed the roles of Belinda (Dido & Aeneas, Purcell) and Amore (L’incoronazione di Poppea, Monteverdi) with Ensemble OrQuesta in London.

In recent concert appearances, Sarah has performed as a soloist in J. S. Bach’s Mass in B minor (Ensemble Buissonnier), Mondonville’s In exitu Israel (Le Motet), and Palmieri’s Misatango (Arte Musica Choir). Bach’s St. Matthew Passion at the Dartington Festival (UK), in Handel’s Messiah at Lausanne Cathedral, and in the Christmas Oratorio by Bach under the baton of Masaaki Suzuki.

As an ensemble singer, Sarah has performed with the Namur Chamber Choir, notably under the baton of Leonardo García Alarcón. For several seasons, she has collaborated regularly with various Swiss ensembles, including the Chorus of the Opéra de Lausanne, the Chorus of the Grand Théâtre de Genève, the Vocal Ensemble of Lausanne, the Académie Vocale de Suisse romande, Ensemble Diaphane, Ensemble Chiome d’Oro, among others.
